TASC Force Meetings
Our Middle School group of youth are actively exploring a personal relationship with Christ through lively interactive inquiries about faith. Here are some of the questions that they have recently tacked in an effort to grow individually and as a group: Who is God? Who is Jesus? Who is the Holy Spirit? Describe God’s character. Where is God? What is the church? What is Holy Communion? What is Baptism? What is sin? Where is heaven?
Greek writer, Nikos Kazantzakis, in his autobiography Report to Greco, states that “life is a struggle; I makethe ascent.” Our youth are making strides in under-standing God’s presence in the struggle called life. Beauty has been seen in our youth in moments of surprise and awareness! Sport a youth doing something positive, offer them a simple word of praise, and watch their faith multiply exponentially!!!

FCA Is Coming Our Youths’ Way
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a national organization serving Christ in ministry among professional, college, middle and high school athletes. Our Youth Director, Dan, has met with the Regional FCA Director, Scott Dotas, various interested school personnel with Hamilton Schools, and is organizing an official Huddle with Hamilton High School. A general sign-up will be initiated in mid-January with an inaugural meeting set for early February.
If you are an adult and an avid supporter of Hamilton athletes, or of athletics in general, or are interested in being a liaison or networking participant, contact Dan Dennis at danialjdennis@gmail.com. Any Lindenwald youth interested in becoming a member of the Hamilton High School FCA Huddle contact Dan. FCA offers a wide variety of opportunities to grow spiritually while refining your athletic abilities.

We Know You Want to Help—Here Are Some Ways
Prayers: Prayer is communion with God. Youth and youth activities are of minimal impact or importance without a constant relationship and reminder that God is in our midst in all we say, think, and do. Youth “feel” your leadership through your prayers for them. Adopt an individual youth or youth activity—and pray for them daily.
Presence: The face of each other is the face of Christ. Loneliness and poverty are two major conditions of the human experience to which most problems and troubles can be assigned. Youth feel these moments more acutely. Consider getting involved with youth as a chaperone, a driver to an event, a mentor, a talent-sharer, a church “parent” or adult church “friend.” Being around youth is invigorating . . . and fun! Literally, your presence makes a difference!
Gifts: Not everyone can skateboard. Not everyone would want to skateboard. But, you might find it inspiring to assist youth who want to learn a skill, by sponsoring an individual or even a group to go to a camp or a clinic or a workshop. Sharing God’s monetary blessings can be a way to “be there” even while you aren’t able to be there at an activity. Sharing a talent is a great way to “give” to young aspiring artists or athletes or apprentices. Specific gifts-in-kind for various youth outings are also important avenues of participating.
Service: Some families are not able to take a vacation. Consider signing up to attend a mission trip with youth or to coordinate a youth fundraiser or to lead a youth workshop or to become a resource network contact person.
The NEEDS LIST for developing youth ministry here at LUMC is as long as any other group’s needs. If interested in finding your “niche” with our youth, give Dan Dennis, our Youth Director, a call (289-1557) and set up a time to discuss “how” to let the spirit of Christ within you shine among our youth and learn about specific needs.
